MORGAN HORSE ASSOCIATION OF OREGON
Breeders’ Cup Futurity Rules for 2018

GENERAL: The MHAO Futurity was established in 2010 to aid in the promotion of horses owned by MHAO members. The Futurity is designed as a 5-year plan which follows a foal through its 4-year-old show season. The Futurity is sponsored by the Morgan Horse Association of Oregon (MHAO) and administered by its Futurity Committee, which consists of appointed MHAO members.

All correspondence should be sent to the Futurity Committee:

ELGIBILITY: Foals must be registered or be eligible to be registered as a Morgan through AMHA. Nomination of the foal is to be made by the owner of record or holder of a valid AMHA lease for an AMHA registered Morgan mare that is bred to an AMHA registered Morgan stallion at the time of the foal’s nomination. Foal owners or leasee’s must be members of MHAO or become members at the time of nomination &/or renewal.

INITIAL FOAL NOMINATION: Foals born or to-be-born in 2018 may be nominated for $45 by close of show entries for the 2018 Oregon Morgan Classic. For nominations thereafter, see “Late Nomination Fee” in the following section for additional information.

Foals are considered nominated when an eligible mare owner or lessee breeds their mare to a Morgan stallion and submits the following to the Futurity Committee:

1.  Owner’s name, current address, and telephone number.

2.  Name & registration numbers of the sire and dam of the foal.

3.  An initial $45.00 nomination fee. (Make check payable to MHAO Futurity)

Online forms and payment options are available at www.morganhorseoregon.com or by contacting the Futurity Committee.

To remain in the futurity, annual renewal fees will apply through the horse’s 4-year-old year. Renewal fees need to be paid starting December 31st, 2018.

LATE NOMINATION FEE: A late nomination fee of $100 will be accepted after close of show entries for the Oregon Morgan Classic (OMC) until December 31, 2018. However, no foal may be shown in the 2018 Futurity classes unless their nomination fees are current. Information required in #1 and #2 above must be submitted to the Futurity Chair for validation. After close of 2018 OMC show entries, this fee replaces the $45 nomination fee.

NOTE: Foals may be entered late through their 4-yr-old year if the owner/leasee is willing to pay a $100 late fee for each year they are late. After that the foal in ineligible.

FOAL NOMINATION RENEWAL: The nomination of each Futurity foal entry must be renewed each successive year (whether or not it is shown) in order for the entry to be eligible for the following year. The foal nomination may not drop from the Futurity for one year and re-enter for the next year.

A foal nomination will be considered renewed for the current year when the following has been submitted to the Futurity Committee on or before December 31st of the prior year.

1.  Owner’s name, current address, and telephone number.

2.  Name and AMHA registration number of the sire and dam of the foal.

3.  Name, sex, and a copy of the foal’s AMHA registration. (Registration papers not required for foaling year).

4.  A $25.00 nomination renewal fee

TRANSFER OF OWNERSHIP: If a foal is sold at any time, Futurity eligibility goes with the foal provided the new owner is or becomes a member of MHAO, payments have been made on time and continue to be paid promptly by the new owner until the final date.

CLASSES: Futurity classes will be held at the annual OREGON MORGAN CLASSIC HORSE SHOW (OMC), or any show designated as official by the MHAO Board of Directors.
