UVM Springfield, 16.1hh 1987 Bay Morgan stallion was the
foundation sire of Paradise Morgans and died in 2014 as a result of an
accident, not due to illness. UVM Springfield, carries blood that includes the
“seven best mares” of the Balch tenure at UVM. He sired 62 foals who to date
have won 27 Class A, Regional, Grand National and World Championships in
English and Western Pleasure, Classic and Western Dressage, Reining, Hunter
Pleasure, Pleasure Driving, Eventing, Endurance, Jumping, and In-Hand. His get themselves
have produced winning horses in those disciplines above as well as in Park
Saddle.
The youngest UVM Springfield offspring to date is the 2016
stallion and show prospect, HD Springfield, produced using frozen semen. Now
that this “test” colt displays quality results, we are offering UVM Springfield
frozen semen by the dose to the public for the first time.
Janet and Chris Morris established a UVM Springfield frozen
semen bank for their personal and commercial uses before transferring UVM
Springfield’s ownership to Heatherwald Morgans for retirement.
UVM Springfield’s foals inherit his size, intelligence,
sanity, stamina, and correct conformation. His get are exceedingly trainable.
UVM Springfield is one of the last horses directly descended from the U.S.
Cavalry horse. He is thirteen generations removed from Justin Morgan (Figure).
He carries no Nocturne, Flaire, or Masterpiece and thus is a fine cross for
mares whose owners want size, Government breeding, and hybrid vigor.
