- Promise Garnet Star, affectionately known as Astro, is an exceptional example of the American Morgan Horse breed, easily recognized by his remarkable blend of power, poise, and personality. With a striking presence and outstanding conformation, Astro’s high-percentage foundation lineage, coupled with his athleticism and versatility, make him a prime candidate for both performance and breeding.
- Astro’s achievements include showing in-hand as a young horse at both Morgan breed shows and USDF recognized dressage shows. In 2020, he scored a 72.975% in USDF competition for Dressage Sport Horse Prospects In-Hand. In 2021, he was awarded Reserve Champion Stallion at the Oregon Morgan Classic and 1st Place for Three-Year-Old Stallions in the Morgan Horse Association of Oregon Futurity. Astro was started under saddle by his amateur owner and has been refining his skills under the capable guidance of trainer Ruben Villaseñor of Horsemen’s Western Dressage since May 2024. Astro will be presented under saddle at the Idaho Horse Expo in early April 2025.
- For those who like a little bit of chrome, Astro is tested homozygous for W20 and has the potential to produce foals with significant white markings when bred to certain mares. He also does not carry a bay gene and will not pass bay coloring in his genetics, thus increasing the probability of producing black- or red-based foals. True to his sport horse lineage, Astro does not carry the genes for gaiting and has only three quality gaits (walk, trot, and canter). Astro is tested N/N for PSSM1.
- Astro is standing at stud for the first time to a limited number of mares in 2025. We are eager to see him pass on his superior traits—excellent conformation, athleticism, and kind temperament—to the next generation. His honest character and natural trainability make him a favorite among riders and handlers alike. Whether you are looking for a stallion to enhance your breeding program or seeking an outstanding prospect for performance, Astro is a perfect choice to sire the next foal on your farm.
